The Foundation’s director is Pete Chavez, who has been a fixture in the Phoenix boxing scene for nearly three decades. A single dad, former-Golden Gloves champion and a USA-licensed boxing coach, Pete Chavez is no stranger to the hardships and temptations of inner-city life.

As a result, he is committed to making the Chavez Boxing Foundation a safe-haven for today’s young people.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    

Pete Chavez was a product of a low income,  single parent home. He grew up in a gang- and drug- infested neighborhood. He learned early that with the proper guidance and role models, at-risk young people can overcome any obstacle.
